Mary Lu Wooten opened Side Street in July of 1979. At that time it was the only restaurant in Oakwood. Before its conversion to a restaurant the building was a grocery, grill, laundry, and a church. A historical painted sign still adorns one side of the building. The Restaurant’s current décor is cozy and tasteful. An atmosphere of simple and relaxed dining enjoyment is created by the fine, friendly staff.
